Dutch Masters Inspired Urn

Build an abundant vessel full of rich, velvety shades and interesting shapes which late summer dahlias and early autumn rudbeckias provide. Native foliages edged with yellow and orange brought about by cool nights and ambient days create structure and form adding detail and interest with twisted stems of phlox, scabious and, if your palette dictates, chocolate cosmos for a touch of ephemeral elegance. There will be a vignette set up as in all the Dutch Masters paintings, full of symbolism and moments more.

In the Dutch Golden Age these vanities were full of iconography representing the prevalence of Christianity over earthly pleasures and material wealth. Religious artefacts and obvious displays of affluence such as gold, silver and precious stones were forbidden, therefore the landed patrons commissioning the work devised a means by which to convey their riches or moral stance by the use of other objects and an understood code for that which they convey.

All of our mechanics are reusable and therefore tread as lightly as possible upon this planet of ours.

Ninety percent of the flowers and foliage used will be grown in Cardross, Stewarton and Dunlop by ourselves or others who do this professionally and very well indeed. All vessels involved are yours to keep and reuse when the creative urge takes you and we source aesthetically pleasing, quality ceramics and glassware which look equally good as an object in your home whether filled with flowers or not.
